NEW ZEALAND

We’re in the process of finalizing all the details for our projected trip to New Zealand in March 2019. We are also necessarily waiting for the official publication of the 2018-19 New Zealand racing schedule, although we're confident the below dates will prove accurate for our purposes. Trip dates and an outline of the activities are as follows:

Day 1 - Wednesday March 6: Last departure date from the U.S.

(In addition to what will likely be an overnight flight, there is a loss of a calendar day due to crossing of the International Date Line. This day will be recaptured on your return to the U.S.)

Day 2 - Friday March 8: Arrive in Auckland. Lodging at Auckland’s best hotel.

Day 3 - Saturday March 9: Racing at Ellerslie Racecourse, featuring the Auckland Cup and two other Group 1 events.

Day 4 - Sunday March 10: Afternoon excursion to Devonport for lunch and sightseeing.

Day 5 - Monday March 11: All-day excursion to Waiheke Island for sightseeing, lunch, and wine tasting.

Day 6 - Tuesday, March 12: Transfer to Cambridge in the Waikato breeding farm area. Visit to a farm en route. Lodging at a small luxury country hotel.

Day 7 - Wednesday, March 13: Morning training, visit to a farm, and racing at rural Matamata Racecourse.

Day 8 - Thursday, March 14: Fly to Wellington. Afternoon free, time to explore the wonderful Museum of New Zealand, which contains the skeleton of Phar Lap. Lodging at Wellington’s best hotel.

Day 9 - Friday, March 15: Choice of half-day or full-day excursions to areas surrounding Wellington.

Day 10 - Saturday March 16: Racing at Trentham Racecourse, featuring the New Zealand Oaks, New Zealand St Leger, and the Wellington Guineas.

Days 11 & 12 - Sunday, March 17: Return to the U.S. Following an overnight flight, arrive back on the same calendar day by re-crossing the Date Line. Alternatively, continue independently to the South Island for further sightseeing; ferries depart regularly from Wellington.

Projected Trip Pricing: $4,275 to $4,525 based on double occupancy and depending on group size. (Does not include international airfare. Waikato-Wellington flight is included.)

Probable Trip Closing Date: November 8, 2018
